Safe Betting Practices: How to Verify a Non GamStop License in the UK

First, examine the “Licensing” section on the casino’s homepage. Most non gamstop casinos display their jurisdiction and license number in a clickable banner or footer link. Click the link and you should reach a third‑party verification page that contains the licence details and the issuing authority’s seal.

Next, cross‑check the license number against the official registry of the issuing body. If the casino claims a UK Gambling Commission license, enter the number on the UKGC’s public portal (https://www.uktgbsa.co.uk). The site will confirm whether the number is active and still valid.

When a non gamstop casino cites a Maltese license, use the Malta Gaming Authority’s database (https://www.mga.org.mt). Enter the licence ID to ensure it matches the casino’s name and that the expiry date is current. Do the same for other common regulators such as the Gibraltar Gambling Commission and the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission.

In addition to official sites, reputable non gamstop casino directories publish annotated licence records. Compare the casino’s displayed licence with the directory entry; discrepancies often signal counterfeit claims. Many directories enforce a quarterly audit to maintain accuracy.

Beware of red flags such as a missing license badge, an unverified jurisdiction, or an unusually long expiry period. A legitimate non gamstop casino rarely promises a licence that runs decades ahead; most licences refresh every 1–3 years. If the casino offers “forever‑valid” licences, pause and double‑check through the regulator.

Finally, save a screenshot of the verified licence page in a secure location. This record protects you if a dispute arises or if the casino’s licence status changes after you have deposited. Consistently repeat the verification process before every major deposit, and you’ll stay safely within a licensed environment when playing at casinos not on GamStop.
